Chonk came in our life, at an unexpected time, via adoption. There was just an undeniable connection at first sight. Daily, he shows us how limitless his brain, spirit, & heart are. His favorite activities are swimming, beach walks, fetching the frisbee, & snuggles. However, we have to limit him to try & avoid pain or extra damage on his joints. On bad pain days, we have to carry him upstairs.

Due to genetics, Chonk has degenerating joints. We do physical therapy, range of motion exercises, supplements, & even massages to help. He has to be picked up, daily, to go in vehicles. He’s less than 3yrs old but we have to make the choice, every day, to limit him doing the things he loves or let him be a puppy & be in pain. Doctors at, Kenai Veterinary hospital, are recommending surgery/s.

This guy’s a huge momma’s boy. He’s goofy, smart, loves hard, & is fiercely protective. At only 4 months, he naturally became an epilepsy alert dog for my partner & an emotional support companion for me, without training. He even helped raise a littler of foster pups & provided support for the mom, who was struggling with postpartum, separation anxiety, & depression. He makes everything better.

The doctors estimate Chonk’s going to need $10k worth of surgery by the time he’s 5yrs old. More & more often we’re seeing him struggle to get around. We’re worried things are progressing faster than expected & we don’t have that kind of money saved up.
