Dumped and Forgotten, Chrissy Needs Heartworm Treatment

Chrissy’s story began about two years ago on the outskirts of a plant nursery in Hialeah, Florida. One day, this tiny little dog simply appeared — alone, frightened, and carrying a large lump on her chest. The workers believe she had been dumped there. The nursery sits on property with large animals, including cows, and everyone worried that such a small dog wouldn’t survive long in that environment. Chrissy had no shelter, no proper dog food, and no one to care for her. But the kind workers at the nursery couldn’t ignore her. They did what they could to keep her alive, sharing bread and scraps whenever possible — anything to help this little dog make it through another day.

For two years, Chrissy survived this way. She quietly lived on the property, doing her best to stay safe and hoping someone would eventually help her. Recently, the workers finally reached out for help because they knew Chrissy deserved more than just survival. She deserves safety, proper veterinary care, and the chance to finally know what it feels like to be someone’s beloved dog.

Chrissy is now safe with Jess Helping Furrbabies Rescue, but during her veterinary exam we discovered she is heartworm positive — a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that requires months of careful treatment. As a senior dog, Chrissy already faces a harder path to adoption. Heartworm treatment makes her journey even more challenging, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve the same chance at health, comfort, and happiness as any other dog. And despite everything she has been through, Chrissy remains incredibly gentle.

She is a quiet, well-behaved, and very sweet little dog who simply wants to feel safe. She’s calm, reserved, and grateful for kindness — the kind of dog who just wants a soft bed, gentle hands, and someone who cares about her.

Thanks to your help, Chrissy was able to receive the heartworm treatment she so desperately needed, and we're thrilled to report that she is doing great!

After spending nearly two years simply trying to survive alone at a plant nursery, Chrissy is finally experiencing the care, comfort, and security she has always deserved. Her heartworm treatment is behind her, and she is recovering beautifully.

Chrissy continues to show everyone what a special little dog she is. She remains the same gentle, quiet, and loving senior who is grateful for every soft bed, kind touch, and moment of affection. It's been amazing to watch her leave survival mode behind and begin enjoying the life she should have had all along.
