In 2012, my husband and I were ready for another dog. We had had to let our 16 year old Dalmatian go to the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years before, and we needed a new best friend to share our home and life with. We refused to buy a dog from a breeder, and only wanted to look into reduce dogs. Being the owners of a small Mexican food business, and having NO IDEA what we were getting ourselves into, we decided we wanted to find a rescue Chihuahua. We didn't have to look far, just a few hours away there was a beautiful caramel colored 4 year old girl named Whisper who needed a new forever home because her mama had become disabled and she could no longer care for the dog. Well, as soon as we heard she was in need of a new home and that her mama was disabled, we immediately wanted to help. And as soon as we met her, Whisper the Chihuahua, we realized that she was meant to be with us.
