Val T.'s life has very specific, devastating, and notable dates. There was the day her husband passed away, which turned out to be the birth date of Cierra, the puppy she ended up adopting soon after he died. Then there was the date Val was first diagnosed with breast cancer. The date she thought she kicked cancer. Then the day she found out, the cancer came back. There was the day her father passed away. And incredibly, the day she received a kidney transplant. The day she got into a car accident and had surgery. Life has been rough for Val, but Cierra has been there for her through it all.

"She always kept me laughing. She patiently laid on my feet last year when a car accident broke both of my hands, and I couldn't lift her. It was like she knew," Val tells Waggle.

Then, tragically, there was the day this month another dog attacked Cierra. Now the Yorkie, who has been a best friend to Val, needs your help! Cierra requires urgent surgery to close her wounds. Val can't afford the operation, and she's so worried. "I am 60-years-old, have cancer, uncontrollable diabetes, and I am disabled."

"She and my other dog are like the old lady gang," Val says. "We are each other's companions. We wear matching outfits, especially around holidays.
