About this campaign

Civetta means "owl" in Italian. She got this name because she's got that unusual band of cream around her yellow eyes, and because she looks wise. And she is, she's been through a lot. Five years ago, she and her kitten were rescued from a storm drain. Her kitten found another home and I got her. And she's wonderful. Shy and fearful at first, she became a warm, cuddly, funny and fierce companion.

At only six, she was diagnosed with liver disease. Her survival is about 50/50. No longer zooming, she is lethargic and barely eats. Her chances would improve if I could hospitalize her for at least one day, but that's $1000. Although she's in a loving home with 3 humans and four cats, she might not make it with outpatient treatment alone. She's too young to die and will be missed by all of us.

Civetta has a sweet, distinctive meow that is deceiving. ..she'll only take so much BS. My male cat, Magpie found this out when he pushed her too far. She let out a Halloween-cat screech that scared him straight. He never chased her again. She's graceful and mild-mannered but holds her ground and is the queen bee of our crew. As you can see from the pictures, she is regal but unconventional.

I work as a freelance editor and home health aide so my budget is limited. My work involves much driving and the cost of gas and groceries doesn't help. Aides don't get paid healthcare or sick days. Emergency eye surgery and expensive car repairs maxed out my credit.
