About this campaign

Claire-Bear came to me as a "re-home" set. He came to my family with another cat, named Linda. Between these two cats, Claire picked me to be his "human". When he was being rehomed, he bonded immediately with me, he quickly became my cat. I can't explain that in any better way. Claire was named Claire, because when he was smaller, his original owners didn't know he was a male, until they were getting him Spayed... to find out he was actually a male. So with me, he probably found me as his "best friend".

Claire is a shorthair colorpoint American Domestic. I discovered that when I had to take him to the vet around 6 years ago. Such a smart "putts" that he is, he was doing all the necessary things to clean out his spider bite wound. However i was so distraught about it I took him to the vet to make sure he was okay. That's when I discovered another personality out of Claire. Claire will "talk", for his breed, he is a chatterbox. After a long day of work, (or me being away from home for long periods) Claire has to approach me and tell me about his day.

I have had Claire for nearly 9 years so far, and when I got him, he was around 2 to 3 years old. So I accept that Claire is around 12 years old now. Our 9 year birthday/anniversary will be the 26th of October. I think out relationship is rock solid. Claire hates it when I leave for a trip. He loves to snuggle and he will "head love" where he has to shove his head into my head.

Our relationship together is that of a "Unconditional Bond", that Love that an animal shows for his Owner. That Loyalty to a fault, where Claire will clumsy himself all because his human came home. At night, Claire will either sleep ON me, over my head on my pillow, or even at my feet. This is one of those Pet-bonds, that breaks my heart knowing, he is ill, and I can't hardly do anything about it.

Since discovering he is Diabetic I am aware of his insulin needs now. However to discover he is diabetic during a "diabetic shock", is something difficult for me to handle. The Vet Bill came out to $560 to perform blood work, and initially say Claire-Bear is diabetic, but because Claire's condition wasn't good, I was referred to Emergency Pet Clinic San Antonio, they confirmed Claire is a diabetic cat, in a keto shock. His sugar levels are in the 600s.

To have the Pet ER keep him for three days to help him recover the cost would be $2600 ~ 3600. Plus the Vet bill at $560, then add the Medicine at $300 for Lantus Insulin and $25 for needles. This one time shot of costs, is more than 3 months of my income.

I can't loose my cat over "Financial Euthanasia" if he can be made better and I can help him live another 3 - 5 years, then that is what I need.
