About this campaign
Cleo came into my life as a 9 week old puppy along with her brother Clyde one week after purchasing my first home. I am 21 years old, in the military, just became eligible for housing, am 3000 miles from my parents so I wanted to establish my own pet family. I found someone selling them $800 for both, and not realizing I was purchasing from an irresponsible breeder who did not vaccinate them.
Cleo has a crate and pen enclosure she shares with Clyde when I am working, but is by my side at all times when I am home. I have 2 roommates currently and my girlfriend will soon be moving here. Cleo loves playing with her brother but mostly spends time sleeping since she is still a baby.
Cleo is 1/2 of my pet family, her brother is the other half. It's hard being away from family and friends and the pups help me keep my homesickness at bay. My childhood boxer Odis, recently passed away and Cleo and Clyde remind me of Odis - similar boxer behavior and expressions. Growing up, my parents let me have turtles, rabbits, fish, frogs, gerbils, and geckos. I just love all animals.
Cleo became sick only 2 weeks after I bought them. I brought her to a local vet on Friday and they said she had Parvo ($1,300) so I had to bring both to a 24/7 hospital. They were treated Friday-Monday, Cleo receiving Plasma transfusion costing an additional $7,400. Monday night Clyde was not eating. He went back into hospital requiring Plasma and feeding tube costing additional $4000.
I'm 21, now w/ a mortgage, and so far have spent almost $15,000 (more than 1/2 my salary) trying to save Cleo and Clyde. My parents sent me $5k of retirement $$ and I maxed out my credit cards. I'm so stressed out its now affecting my health. I need help paying.
