I lived in Phoenix for a short time, and I was very lonely. I took to the shelters to find a feline friend, and I saw a cute kitten at Lost Our Home rescue. I went and was taken aback by Clover instead, sitting on her perch and I went to pet her. She scared me, thinking she was going to bite - instead she began giving me kisses right away. I love her so, I brought her all the way back to Ohio.

Clover is lazy just like most senior kitties, but she is loud and demands attention. When I come home from work, she meows at me in her lovely old lady croak until I lay down so that she can make her bed on top of my chest. She loves getting love so much, I don’t think she would ever tire of pets. Being a mainecoon she requires brushing and doesn’t like that too much, though!

I am on a barely liveable wage at Bark Box right now (because I love animals that much, I even have a job in the field!). I earned bad credit as an 18 year old in college, and I’m unable to get Care Credit. As well, I have another pet requiring a surgery that is $800.

Clover has always been skinny since I adopted her - I thought it was from being a stray and living the shelter life. I showered her with treats and gave her a high quality cat food. After having her for over 6 months and her not gaining weight, I became concerned. Her thyroid was fine, and so the vet said to keep an eye out. Since then, she has lost two more pounds and requires more care.

When I think of not hearing Clover’s loud cries and demands for love, it brings me to a puddle of tears. She fills my life up with love and makes me feel needed, like I have a place in this world and my purpose is to give love to her and others. She brings out the best in me, and gives me so much comfort for my PTSD symptoms. She got me through the hardest time in my life.
