Coal is a rescue from the local shelter, found outside with his sister, and I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. He lives with our 2 other older cats and 1 pup.

Coal is an incredibly sweet and affectionate kitty. He could be considered a velcro cat, always wanting to be as close as possible. Sleeping in a soft kitty house or under the covers works for him while we’re not home. Otherwise, Coal will sleep wherever we are sitting or sleeping.

Toys are cool and all, but he especially loves hair ties and fetching them. The laser is, of course, another favorite game. He’s pretty vocal, especially if we make eye contact. If we call another cat to us, he assumes we meant to call him over and proceeds to steal the attention.

Coal recently had a tooth abscess that was treated but unfortunately spread to his liver. He stopped eating and lost half his body weight. Coal had to eat via feeding tube for two weeks until he ate on his own again. He overcame the infections, but now needs all of his teeth pulled- full mouth extractions. It was determined all of his teeth are bad. Nashville Cat Clinic can do this for him.

I have used Scratch Pay (loans) for his emergency treatments thus far and am unable to afford this next step. This is very treatable, but unfortunately insanely expensive. He is feeling so much better, but I have to get his mouth healthy to prevent this from repeating.
