Coco is like no other!! She is a 7 year old American Staffordshire Terrier emotional support dog. She is registered through Advantage behavior Health systems. Her human is Michael. Michael is a young man who suffers with mental illness. He is able to live on his own and maintain a normal life because of Coco. He has come so far with the help and support she gives him.

Coco and Michael have been together for last 6 1/2 years. She has been his emotional support ever since she was a puppy. Michael has some coping problems and whenever he is has a manic episode coco works her magic and not only helps him change his actions and calm down, but she also can sense his episodes before happening. She will get right beside him almost in his lap and force him to give her love.

Michael is on disability and lives on a very tight budget. He receives assistance for rent and food. He is also on Medicaid. Unfortunately his Medicaid won't cover Coco's vet bills or any treatments.

We took Coco to the vet 2 weeks ago because she was having some skin issues (that we were able to get taken care of). It wasn't untillthe very end of our visit to the vet that we learned coco had heartworms. We were devastated. Michael broke down and has been in a bad mind space ever since. He thinks she won't make it because we can't afford to pay for her treatment.

Coco has saved Michaels life more times than either one of them realize. They are each other's smile! She is like no other !! She has her own personality that is like that if a teenage girl. She is a diva who wants to be the center of attention. When she gets mad or upset she lets you know it with her attitude...I laugh at her so much when she acts like she is ignoring me but she never ignores him.
