About this campaign
Aprilyn B. and her family wanted to adopt a dog, but when they went to the shelter, none felt right until they found Coco.
"We first met Coco at the SPCA shelter when she was five months old," Aprilyn tells Waggle. "While waiting to meet another dog, we decided to walk around in the small dog area. When we turned the corner, we saw this adorable puppy licking and pawing at the kennel door as if she was trying to get to us. It was love at first sight."
And the pictures Aprilyn sent show what a massive part of the family Coco has become. She even helps the kids study and is the best snuggle buddy.
But recently, Coco started limping. Aprilyn brought Coco to Countryside Veterinary Clinic and found out Coco needs help ASAP.
"Coco has a torn cruciate ligament (in her knee) that will require a surgical repair," Aprilyn says. "We tried anti-inflammatory medication, but it only helped temporarily. She used only to limp occasionally, but now her pain is so bad that she can hardly walk. She even has to eat lying down."
The surgery Coco desperately needs is expensive, and the family is in a race against time to try to raise the money!
"We have spent all our savings on unexpected house repairs," Aprilyn says. "We have a lot of medical debt. We are working extra shifts trying to earn extra money."
