Coco is a 9-year-old Labrador in West Melbourne, FL, who needs $2,000 for Tibial Tuberosity Advancement.

I adopted Coco when she was 6 years old. Her previous owners admitted to neglect whenever she would ‘get out of hand’. They'd take away her food & force her to spend all day in a metal dog crate, yelling & kicking the crate if she didn’t listen. It was a rough start, &I had a lot to learn about how to approach an abused dog. 3 years later, Coco has a new name & shows almost no signs of neglect!

Coco loves being active. She loved going on walks & running along the beach. She’s shy of strangers but warms up quickly & becomes everyone’s best friend! She isn’t really a barking kind of dog, but will get your attention & will walk towards whatever she wants you to do for her. Her favorite activity is probably going ‘bye bye’, which is a car ride. She loves feeling the breezy air on her face!

I lost my job due to Covid and have charged $1000 to my credit card in the past week for 2 vet visits for her. I was told surgery would help get her active and enjoying her senior years. My worst fear is her being in pain for a long time.

Coco has a torn/ruptured ACL in her back left knee along with hip dysplasia. She started limping and crying a few days ago, and has quickly gotten worse. Her behavior is extremely strange and it’s clear she’s in a lot of pain. She goes to Animal Medical Clinic in Melbourne Florida and her treating vet is Carrie Rodriguez. She needs a TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) for her knee.

I love Coco because she just wants everyone to be happy. If you’re crying, she will put her paw on you, asking to give you kisses. If you’re happy, she’ll be excited & run around while play-bowing across the floor. She wants to meet every dog & cat she sees & play with them. She’s even a great listener and will watch you talk to her without ever getting bored. Her dream is to be your best friend!
