Cocoa is my small Yorkie and a deeply loved member of my household. She lives indoors with me full-time and is treated as part of the family. Cocoa is normally affectionate, alert, and very attached to her routine and the people she trusts.

Cocoa has been experiencing ongoing medical issues that required veterinary attention. She has been evaluated for gastrointestinal problems, respiratory symptoms, and severe skin allergies. These conditions have affected her appetite, comfort, breathing, and overall quality of life, and she has needed medical care to help manage her symptoms. Her behavior is typically very affectionate and calm. She enjoys attention, cuddling, and being held, and she responds well to familiar voices and routines. Cocoa is also very sensitive to the emotions in the home and tends to stay close when she senses someone is upset or stressed, offering comfort in her own way.

What makes this so hard is watching her go through it. Cocoa isn’t just sick—she’s uncomfortable, and there are days where she just doesn’t feel like herself. I feel helpless at times knowing she needs care, but I’m constantly trying to figure out how to cover it.
