About this campaign
In February of 2023 my daughter talked grandma into buying her a rescue puppy since we can’t afford an already fully trained psychiatric service dog to help mitigate my daughter’s anxiety and panic attacks. Cookie was 3 months old when she was adopted, she was smart and eager to learn. As time passed, she became anxious when out on walks. October 2023 she went out to potty and then collapsed.
Cookie started her basic training at 3 months old, and started task training at 6 months. My daughter and Cookie bonded rather quickly and training was going great. Cookie being very proud to be assisting her human in managing her anxiety, until October. No more car rides, no more walks, no more zoomies, no running, no jumping, no playing, no working in public. Just laying around waiting on meds.
As a Psychiatric Service Dog in Training Cookie is special. She can sense when you are anxious and complete tasks to alert, she can retrieve medication, she can find a cell phone and bring it, she can bring water bottle, she can lick your face to ground you. She really is quite the special puppy. She knows words and can use the talking buttons to ask for her water dish to be refilled and treats.
Cookie was diagnosed with bilateral luxating patella grade 4. Was given this: Consult fee is $250 and this fee will go towards surgical fee.
The MPL surgery is about $4,000-$4,500 for each leg and includes the recheck exam at 2 weeks, the recheck radiographs & medications. Overnight stay $300. $150 Bloodwork. Dr. Greco at Precision Veterinary Surgery
One income family of four. Mother thyroid cancer, autoimmune disease, along with other health issues (medical bills). Still waiting on SSDI to be approved. If Cookie could have surgery she’d be happy to help her human navigate anxiety and panic attacks, and do zoomies.
