Cookie is a 6-year-old Morkie in Virginia Beach, VA, who needs $1,500 for full a chain mastectomy and spay.

This poor baby girl was dumped after she developed breast tumors in four of her breasts and was no longer able to support litters. The breeder just tossed her out and she was found underweight, covered in flees with an open would on her back and an ear infection so bad the Vet thought it had to have been present for over 6 months. She needs surgery.

I agreed to foster her and she has been learning how to "dog". At first she seemed confused by everything and so exhausted she just slept. She obviously had been confined for only breeding and had no interactions or toys. Once I got her worms treated, her ear infection cleared, and the wound on her back closed and healed, she started to come out of her shell and play with some dogs toys.

I made sure this sweet girl received her immediate medics needs, but her breast surgery, spay, and ongoing medical costs to get her fully healthy is just more than what could reasonably be applied to rehoming fee and therefore can only be done with help.

Cookie has a major issue we have to overcome, her breast tumors, and getting her fixed so she can find her forever home. The Vet clinic at Woods Corner has done her preliminary wound care, ear infection and worms treatment The ASPCA completed her vaccinations and pre surgical mastectomy work up.

Cookie, as I have been calling her, really is a joyful dog now. When we first rescued her, she was shut down, lethargic, and scared. Now her tail is up her face is lit up and she trots around like she is bouncing on clouds. She always used to go to the corner of the room and lay, or try to hide under the bed, now she will play and give kisses, and she will sleep on my bed with my dog .
