About this campaign
When Waggle first saw the pictures Cooper's family sent in, we could tell right away how much his adopted human family adores him. "We love Cooper with all our hearts," Desera C., his human mom, says. "He sleeps in our bed and has to get a belly rub every night to go to sleep. If I don't, he grabs my foot to rub his belly. He loves his life with us, and we love him so very much."
But this month, Cooper's family was devastated when he was hit by a car. "He looked at me to help him, and we took him to Salt River Veterinarian in Taylorsville, KY. Dr. Benson told us he had a severely broken hip and leg. He needs an extensive surgery that will cost over $7000," Desera says.
And now the family is heartbroken; they are facing the possibility of economic euthanasia. "$7000 is impossible for any family to pay for surgery on a dog. Cooper is in immense pain but otherwise healthy. If we can't get him the surgery, we have to euthanize him. I cry right now at the idea of not being able to save him simply because we aren't rich," Desera adds.
Desera says they have faced some financial challenges lately, like so many people have. She hopes kind animal lovers will help them "pay it forward" and give to Cooper's campaign so he can get the surgery he needs. "Cooper had a spirit unlike any other," she says. "Our family has had many difficult challenges over the last year, and that goofy boy is always there to make us feel good. He senses sadness and comes to you and just lightly taps his nose to you, like he's saying, 'Hey, it's going to be OK.' He gives us so much more than we could ever give him."
