After 3 Days Trapped in a Well, Corti Now Needs Urgent Medical Care

Corti has already survived something unimaginable — but his journey to recovery is only just beginning. This sweet cat was rescued after being trapped inside a well for three long days. Alone, frightened, and unable to escape, Corti endured a terrifying ordeal before finally being brought to safety by Baw Baw Animal Welfare. We can only imagine how exhausted and dehydrated he must have been after such a traumatic experience.

Once rescued, Corti was immediately taken for a veterinary examination. Thankfully, his respiratory system showed clear lung sounds with no congestion or wheezing — a small relief after spending days trapped in such conditions. But further examination revealed several concerning medical issues that now require urgent care.

The veterinarian identified two wounds on both sides of Corti’s face. These lesions could be due to scar tissue, tumor growth, or potentially Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of skin cancer that requires further diagnostics to confirm. In addition, Corti has severe opacity in both eyes. At this stage, it is difficult to determine whether this is caused by corneal ulcers, cataracts, or another underlying condition affecting his vision. These eye issues may be painful and could impact his quality of life if left untreated.

Despite everything he has endured, Corti remains bright, alert, and responsive. Even more heartwarming — he still has a normal appetite, showing his resilience and will to keep fighting. But he needs medical support to give him the best chance at healing and comfort.

Corti’s treatment plan includes:

• Antibiotics to prevent and treat infection

• Wound care and management for his facial lesions

• Ocular medications to address his eye condition

• Diagnostic testing to determine the cause of the facial wounds

• Ongoing monitoring and supportive care as he recovers

After surviving three days trapped in a well, Corti deserves more than just rescue — he deserves a real chance at recovery and a safe future. Thanks to your support, Corti is continuing his treatments—and we’re beginning to see real progress. His facial wounds are gradually healing, and he is becoming more comfortable each day. What once looked so severe is now improving with consistent care and attention.

Even more encouraging, Corti’s overall condition has stabilized beautifully. His appetite is strong, and he’s eating and drinking well. His urination and bowel movements are all normal—an important sign that his body is recovering and functioning as it should.

And perhaps the most heartwarming update of all—Corti is becoming more active and present in the sanctuary. After everything he endured, seeing him alert, engaged, and moving around more comfortably is a huge step forward.

When Corti was rescued after spending three terrifying days trapped inside a well, his future was uncertain. He was exhausted, frightened, and suffering from multiple medical concerns that required immediate attention. Today, we are thrilled to share that Corti has made wonderful progress. He is now an active and happy member of the sanctuary, enjoying the safety and comfort he was denied for so long. His appetite remains strong, he is drinking well, and his urination and bowel movements are all normal—clear signs that he is healthy, comfortable, and continuing to recover.

Perhaps the greatest gift has been watching Corti simply be a cat again. After enduring such a frightening ordeal, he is now able to explore his surroundings, relax in a safe environment, and enjoy the care and compassion of those who love him.
