About this campaign

Cricket joined our family at 8 weeks old and has not left our sides since. She has become the biggest snuggle bug and will follow everyone around the house until we sit on the couch with her. She bounces around, which is how she got her name, and is always ready to work. She constantly asks to be held or for a hug and has even started to “talk” with buttons”. She’s our brilliant baby.

Cricket immediately became best friends with one of our cats and all of our dogs, of which she is 1 of 4! She is the fastest and loves our new yard that has the space to run. She follows us around the house, always trying to walk as closely as possible. Her presence offers a sense of peace and safety. All of us are holding our breath until she can return home.

Cricket loves all treats but her current favorite is freeze-dried minnows! She loves to jump in the pond during the hot summer months, especially after a long day of training. She works on- and off-leash and is often a demo dog for her dog trainer mama. When she gets excited, she “vibrates” from head to toe and she stares at you until you call her over to work or just some love.

Cricket was spayed on April 21 but was not recovering how we expected. After vomiting and not eating, we took her to IndyVet, the closest emergency pet hospital, on May 1. There, she was diagnosed with a septic abdomen as a result of her spay surgery and required an exploratory laparotomy that lasted over 3 hours. No perforation was found and she has been in critical condition and hasn’t eaten.

Her critical care requirements are increasing by the hour and we are struggling to figure out what to do. We want to give her all of the support she needs to recover but her prognosis is still only 50/50. She is so loved and none of us know what we’d do without her.
