About this campaign

Melissa F. adopted Daisy from the SPCA when Daisy was a furry bundle, at 8 weeks old. The family already had three dogs at the time, and one of them, Luna, an American bulldog, claimed Daisy as her own little baby. The two were simply inseparable. When Luna passed away, the family adopted a puppy, Bella, and then it became Daisy's turn to assume the momma role for the new puppy. She has proven to be a super-smart and lovng mother hen. The rest of the pack adores her and she loves them all. She is the ringleader of playtime and a very verbal "talker," cracking up the entire family with her "conversation."

Daisy is also a very clever girl when it comes to "sneaky" stuff--like learning to open a cracked door to see what is on the other side! "She figured out how to open her kennel door when she was 5 months old and was pretty pleased with herself," chuckles Melissa. She learns tricks fast and loves to please. She retrieves until her humam playmates are ready to collapse--before SHE is exhasuted! And don't even mention water--this gal is quite the swimmer and could even be the lifeguard! And another thing this "genius" does--she seems to be able to solve all the doggie toy and foodie puzzles that she is presented with! Notes Melissa, "She loves everyone in the family and all the dogs love her."

About a year ago, Melissa noticed that Daisy's back legs sesemed to be bothering her. She stopped running around the yard and ceased jumping up on the bed for nighttime sleepy cuddles. The vet felt that both her anterior cruciate ligaments were strained, but, at least, not torn. Melisssa worked on getting Daisy's weight down a little, as that would be helpful, and the family also did at-home PT with her, but despite their efforts, Daisy's condition deteriorated. She was evaluated this past summer. "We were all set for surgery on her right leg." further notes Melissa, "and then we found out her left ACL is also ruptured." Sadly, this means more surgery.

Melissa expanded: "We both work two jobs and we have have had other major expenses this year, maxing our funds-- and we were unable to get funding for her second surgery. She won’t have mobility until she can have the next surgery."

This little fireball is just itching to get back into the game. Can you help her batter up?
