Daisy is a 6-year-old Lab/Pit Bull mix in Sabattus, ME, who needs $1,600 for Chemotherapy.

Daisy came into our lives a little over 4 years ago. She was a rescue from the state of Georgia and was living in a shelter there after having a litter of puppies. I discovered her through a rescue in Maine that partnered with the rescue down in Georgia. She had been abused and was very skittish when she got here but has settled in amazingly and come so far these last few years.

Daisy sleeps with me every night in my bed and tends to take up the entire bed and will sleep snuggled up against me all night. She is so sweet and our whole family and all our friends love her. She will nudge you with her nose when she wants something or will bark when she is ready to come in from outside. When we come home she is always excited and greets us with a huge smile and wagging tail.

I am a civil servant and single mom with two children. I live paycheck to paycheck. I will do whatever it takes to save my Daisy. Though I rescued her she has rescued me and is truly my third child and I would be lost without her. I love Daisy with all of my heart.

A few weeks ago Daisy was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor. Initially I thought it was just a cyst on her paw but that was not the case. I took her to Lake Region Animal Hospital in Windham, ME to Dr. Andrine Belliveau who was able to surgically remove the tumor without removing Daisy's toes. Unfortunately the biopsy came back cancerous and the margins dirty so she now needs chemotherapy.

We have a cat named Burberry who Daisy loves to play with although I think Burberry just tolerates her. She will follow the cat around and they enjoy eating each other's food. Daisy loves to bark at everything, especially birds, squirrels and leaves. Funny thing about Daisy is that she refuses to go into the kitchen where the stove and fridge are. Not sure why but she has always been that way.
