Dakota is an 8-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix in Hubbardston, MA, who needs $2,000 for a splenectomy.

We rescued our Dakota at 7 months old, just a few months after we bought our home. She quickly became a huge part of our lives. When we got married, we wrote her into our wedding vows, and she came along on our honeymoon! She has always loved walks with Mom, and she was even my furry running buddy - we did Couch to 5K together, and now we enjoy runs, too.
Since our daughter was born 3 years ago, she became the best big fur sister, and they are best friends. Our daughter called her "Foofa" while learning to talk, and Foofa has stuck. Dakota is a great sport about responding to both names! Every night at bed time, she jumps right up onto our daughter's bed for story time, before a hug and a kiss goodnight.
