About this campaign
There are only 17 days left before Dakota has her surgery
Looking for donations to help with the cost of surgery
Remember, any amount that you give will get me closer to the amount of her surgery. No amount is “too small”.
Thank you in advance
In February 2019, Dakota was diagnosed with Keratoconjunctivis sicca otherwise known as Dry Eye. I have been using both Cyclosporine and Tacrolimus 3x a day since to see if they will help her produce tears. Dakota’s eyes are checked monthly doing the Schirmer Tear Test to see if her eyes started to produce any tears. Her ophthalmologist states that if she doesn’t produce tears within 90 days of starting treatment she won’t. It is now September, over the 90 days and she hasn’t produced any tears and eyesight is getting worse. There is a surgical procedure that Dakota needs in order to save her sight and her eyes. It is called Parotid Duct Transposition. Surgery date is scheduled for October 9th. As much as I don’t want to put her through another surgery I am going to have to.
You see, I adopted Dakota in September 2015... we bonded and fell in love with each other. I am her life and she is mine, she is my baby!! In Dec 2017 / Jan 2018 she became deathly ill...I thought I was going to lose her more than once throughout that period. My 70 lb dog went down to 53 lbs , skin and bones. After all the vet visits and tests we finally got a diagnosis ofLaryngeal Paralysis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dakota not only fought day and night to breathe but she couldn’t keep any food in. Once the warm weather came (I didn’t have central air) I fought to try and keep the house cool with air conditioners and fans but that only blew hot air around and I could not keep the house cool.In the beginning of July with all the 90 degree days we had, we had to take her to a hotel to cool her down so she could breathe without suffocating. The next week she had the “tie back” surgery so she would be able to breathe. She knows that if the surgery wasn’t done she would have suffocated and I saved her life. She is forever grateful and I am that she is still with me. Next, we had to try and manage her Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which is a horrible disease and you literally live day to day because there are always flair ups, etc.
As you can see, I have numerous veterinary bills that have piled up throughout last year and this year. .... Veterinary visit, ER visits, tests, medications, IMS (Internal Medical Specialists ) visits (numerous), special foods, eyedrops, daily medication for the rest of her life, etc.
If I didn’t have all these to take care of I wouldn’t be asking for help.
This poor, poor girl has been dealt a terrible hand in life and I am trying to give her the best possible life I can. This time I need you help.
