Dallas is a nine-year-old Doberman in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for cancer treatment.

Many of us have been fortunate enough to have that one special dog, our forever dog, the pooch we share a bond with like no other. For Izala M., that dog is Dallas.

"Dallas came into my life as a newborn-spirited, beautiful puppy," Izala tells Waggle. "I was with him the moment he opened his eyes, and we've been inseparable since. Dallas has been with me through every important life event, from breakups to graduations and even cross-country moves. He has been the only constant in my life for the past nine years, and I can't wait to continue our journey together."

So Izala was devastated when she found out Dallas has cancer. "Dallas has recently been diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on his left front paw," she says. "The very kind veterinarians at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (Dr. Alexander and Dr. DiBernardi) have recommended radiation therapy to treat the area. Our goal is to reduce the size of his melanoma and prevent it from spreading elsewhere."

The prognosis for Dallas with treatment is optimistic, but unfortunately, Izala is struggling to pay for his medical bills. "I just moved to Houston, TX from Savannah, GA for a job in June 2021 and incurred a lot of expenses from the move. I am still trying to recover financially. Unfortunately, radiation treatment is very costly, but I am willing to do anything to help my best friend."

It's a gut-wrenching feeling not being able to pay your beloved pet's medical bills. Izala launched this Waggle campaign hoping people who understand her dilemma might contribute to help her dog. "Dallas is special because while I've owned many dogs in my life, I've never owned a dog with who I share such a strong connection. Dallas is always in sync with my moods and knows just how to make me smile when I'm having a bad day or how to make me laugh when I'm bored on conference calls. He's taught me how to be kind, patient, and adventurous. He gives me something to look forward to every day."
