Daniel is a 4-year-old Golden Retriever in Pasadena, CA, who needs $3,000 for rib resection and mass removal surgery .

I have always wanted a golden retriever in my life. That golden retriever’s name will be Daneil and it will be the sweetest dog in the world. And in December 2015, my boyfriend Chen and I met Daniel at a farm in southern California. Daniel was only eight month old at that time. Then we started to live together until today.

Sometimes we go hiking, and sometimes we go to the dog beach or dog park. When we go to the dog beach, Daniel never goes into the ocean, and only plays in the sand. So I guess Daniel doesn’t like swimming. He sleeps everywhere at home, and he loves the sofa the most. And Daniel will bring a toy to you every time you come home, so you can play together.

I’m a tour guide and work at a large tour agency in Los Angeles. Because of the pandemic, my company has to close until further notice. Daniel has always stood by my side as I struggled with work and life. Now Daniel is sick, and I want to do everything I can to help.

Daniel has a large growing mass on the left side of the chest. We went to VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. Doctor Buote did an X-ray, CT and skin biopsy for Daneil. The report says it is possibly a soft tissue sarcoma. Doctor Buote is very concerned and suggests surgery to possibly remove the mass. Sometimes I can see Daneil is in a lot of pain. He doesn’t want to eat and cannot fall asleep.

As a golden retriever, Daniel sheds a lot. So we need to use a vacuum cleaner almost every day. When Daniel was younger, he was a little bit scared of the vacuum cleaner. But he seems to want to have a fight with it. Now four years later, he is still amazed by it. He would watch it working with a sense of confusion. I guess one day, Daniel will figure it out.
