A Sweet Kitten in Need: Help Daphne Get the Care She Deserves

Adopt A Cat Foundation recently welcomed a sweet kitten named Daphne into their care after receiving a message from someone in the community. They explained that they had been gifted a kitten but were unable to keep her due to allergies.

At first, the photos they shared showed a healthy kitten. However, when Daphne arrived, Adopt A Cat immediately noticed signs of a skin condition — she was scratching and had lost fur around her ears and face.

They suspect she may have a parasite, and they're taking her to the vet this week for tests and treatment. While they were told Daphne was healthy, this unexpected vet visit and care come with additional costs, and they're reaching out for your support to ensure she gets the treatment she needs.

Though Adopt A Cat is disappointed by the misinformation they were given, they're so glad they could step in and give Daphne the chance to heal. Any help you can offer would mean the world to them and to Daphne as they help her on the road to recovery.

Update 2/20/25:
Today, Daphne visited the vet, and after a thorough examination, the best course of action was to run skin scrapes and a culture to determine the exact cause of her skin issues. Sadly, both of her ears were also infected. Due to her condition, it is likely she is from a backyard breeder. She also needs to be spayed and vaccinated. Adopt a Cat is determined to get Daphne all the care she needs to be healthy and give her the life she deserves.

Update 3/11/25:
Today, Daphne had to return to the vet for another round of tests, as she's still struggling with some ongoing health issues. She underwent a cytology test, an ear flush, and a skin scrape, all in the hope of finding answers and bringing her some relief. We’re staying positive that these results will shed light on what’s going on and help us get her back to feeling her best.

Update 4/19/25:
Despite ongoing treatment and countless tests, sweet Daphne’s skin issues continue to be a challenge. Her care team is now giving her medicated baths twice a week to help soothe her discomfort, and she's been referred to a veterinary dermatologist specialist. We’re crossing our fingers they can see her soon!

Through it all, Daphne remains the same loving, gentle soul we’ve all come to adore. Her resilience is inspiring, and she continues to be a volunteer favorite.

Update 4/24/25:
Daphne's condition has worsened recently: her little face and eyes have become so crusty that she can barely open them, and most of the fur on her ears is now gone. Despite trying so many different treatments, nothing seemed to make a lasting difference.

But there's hope on the horizon! Daphne went to a veterinary dermatologist who took a deep dive into Daphne’s case and has created a brand new treatment plan tailored just for her. She's now on a new set of medications and a special prescription diet designed to help with any food allergies that may be worsening her skin.

While it's going to take some time, we're finally feeling like we're headed in the right direction. Daphne, as always, is being such a trooper through it all—purring and cuddling when she can, even on her hardest days.
