Darby is a 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer Mix in Ooltewah, TN, who needs $2,000 for Retinal Reattachment Surgery.

We first saw Darby on a Facebook post from Cleveland Animal Control where she was surrendered for reasons unknown. The animal control is notorious for being a kill facility that only keeps surrendered pets for a short amount of time before euthanizing them. Feeling the tug on our heart strings, we went to visit her. We fell and love and adopted her. In doing so, we very likely saved her life.

Home from the shelter, Darby now enjoys life as a most loved (and spoiled) pup! She has two other doggy siblings that were rescued years prior. She's the baby of the family and, as such, she enjoys annoying her siblings for fun. She's a stinker! She also loves walks and playing with her many toys, get belly rubs, and snuggling with her mama.

When Darby plays with her toys, she likes to roll on her back with her paws straight in the air and squeak them. She also likes to steal tissues out of trashcans and socks out of laundry baskets. It's naughty, but it makes us laugh. When she snuggles she always wants to have a paw on your chest. She's such a sweet girl!

When we adopted Darby we noticed that she had cataracts and couldn't see well. We took her to a veterinary ophthalmologist and Darby had a double cataract removal surgery to restore her sight. The surgery was a success, but on the one month follow up visit the vet found that Darby's retina's were detaching bringing her back to being blind. She needs surgery to reattach the retinas for her to see.

I am a single mother just out of a divorce. On top of that, I've already had to pay for the other surgeries which were expensive even with some generous donations. Darby is a comfort and source of constant joy and we desperately want her to be able to see again.
