Deacon is a 2-year-old Goldendoodle in Roswell, GA, who needs $1,800 for Stress Radiographs with Sedation.

Deacon joined our family because five of our children have various needs and we hoped he would be therapeutic for them, even if it was only ever informally. He is already filling that role, even though he’s still young and maturing. He is a go-to playmate, snuggler, comforter and confidant for all six of our kids and us grownups too!

Deacon’s day starts with his big brother taking him out and feeding him while the littlest four get dropped off at school. He then plays with his dozens of “babies” and dozes at Taylor’s feet while she works. His all-time favorite part of the day is when the kids get home from school! He vibrates with excitement and eagerly runs out to our fenced yard to play with the kids.

He is the dumbest smart dog ever! He is wicked smart and intuitive - except for when a GIANT stick (branch usually) or socks are involved and then he loses his sensibilities. The best thing he does is when he wants attention he’ll swipe one of the kids’ beloved stuffed animals, that he knows he isn’t supposed to have, and brings it to us, dropping it and waiting to be praised for putting it down.

About a month ago Deacon was out back playing with the kids after school when he sprained (?) his carpus, or the “ankle” part of his front leg. Immediately lame, he had to be carried inside. Seen at emergency vet, given NSAID and pain meds, told to do crate rest and would improve in two weeks. But he hasn’t. So we are now seeing a veterinary surgeon to discuss next steps.

Last July we had 3 pets fall ill & pass from complications of their long term illnesses. We are still digging out from the $$$$ spent trying to save each of them. Deacon has pet insurance but it only covers $1000 which was mostly used by the $795 emergency vet bill.
