About this campaign

Dee Dee came to us as a retired breeder from a cattery. She was around 2 years of age when she was adopted into our family and she is almost 10 now. She lives with her biological dad, who came to us as a retired breeder too.

Dee Dee throws up a lot and her body inflates with gas every time she eats. The throwing up has progressed to projectile vomiting. The vomiting caused her to aspirate fluid in to her lungs and now she’s struggling to breathe. I took her to an emergency clinic for further testing because our regular vet doesn’t have the equipment for advanced testing. An ultrasound diagnosed her with megaesophagus.

A couple of years ago, we sold our house and took the proceeds to diy build one ourselves. We bought an RV to live in while building. After two years of hard work we were weeks away from getting our certificate of occupancy, then Hurricane Helene hit. Two trees fell on our RV while our cats were in it. We got them out and ran to the house and 30 minutes later a mudslide hit the house.

The hurricane took our house, and life savings, and it left all of our cats with health issues. Since the storm we’ve lost two of them. Without specialized care, Dee Dee won’t be with us much longer. Mentally I don’t think I can handle ant more loss.
