Derby is a 3-year-old Husky/Lab in Mission Viejo, CA, who needs $2,000 for TPLO.

Derby was rescued from a house that was unable to keep her after a teenager brought her home at 6 weeks old. We have had Derby since then and she is now 3 years old. Derby lives with myself, my wife and our two kids. She loves playing with us outside and going on walks down by the beach. She is a part of our family.

Derby is great with our two children. She interacts with our one year old and newborn. She checks on them at night and sleeps outside their bedroom door. She is constantly making sure sure that everyone is okay and looked after. She greets us at the door and sprints around the house when we come home. Even if we have only been gone for 10 minutes.

The total cost of the surgery is $3097. With our 1 year old and two month old, my wife has had to become a stay at home parent and we have had to be on one income. We have been stricken with this at the worst time and would love to have Derby playing around us again.

We took Derby to PetPoint Medical Center after we noticed her limping and not putting weight on her back right leg. We were informed she had a torn CCL and would need a TPLO surgery. This surgery is an extremely expensive one and we have been devastated by the news. We understand this is how veterinarians make a living for their family and pets and fully support them during this difficult time.

Derby loves to chase rabbits and play in the backyard at night. She also enjoys playing in the sand and beach. She finds joy in chasing animals and running around outside. She is our protector at night and we feel a sense of ease with her inside the house with us and our family. She loves belly rubs and sleeping with her legs in the air.
