Dexter came to me just when I needed him. My fiancé and I had just moved out of state and I was so lonely and homesick. He is my heart dogs and has spent countless hours on my lap and bringing me peace when I had none. We eventually moved back home, got married and got pregnant. 2 months after our daughter was born my husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Dexter helped us get through the worst and most trying time of our lives. He was always there to put his head on our lap and let us know everything would be okay. We completely depleted our savings and then some fighting his cancer. After chemo and invasive surgery my husband was declared cancer free. We were lucky to not lose our home and our livelihood.

I lost my job due to covid and now we are a one income family, still recovering from the cost of my husbands cancer. It would mean everything to us to be able to save our dog who saved us by just existing and giving us and our kids unconditional love.

About a year ago we noticed a mass on his left hind leg. We immediately took him to our local vet and they told us it was a fatty lipoma but were concerned about its location and size. We then went to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital and saw Dr. Lindsay Phillips. She recommended he have surgery to remove the lipoma. It would cost upwards of $4,000. And then COVID hit.

Now we want to give our sweet Mama’s Boy the care he so greatly deserves. He loves more than anything to cuddle. He would choose that activity over anything else. He hates the cold and chatters his teeth whenever he feels it is too cold outside. He knocks to come inside and immediately jumps on the bed to cuddle and warm up. He is our kids very best friend and always keeps a watchful eye over them
