About this campaign
Diego typically lives with me full-time in Denver, CO and is deeply integrated into my daily life. In the last 2 years he's also spent extended time with my newly retired dad in New York - where he enjoys summer at the Jersey Shore and a few weeks in my Dad's home with a yard. Between Denver open spaces, creek walks, and quiet evenings at home, Diego lives a stable, active, and well-loved life.
Diego is being treated at Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) of White Plains, after imaging revealed a large mass on his spleen that is causing internal bleeding. This is a medical emergency. The recommended treatment is an urgent splenectomy, along with diagnostics and hospitalization. This is not a chronic condition, but an acute, life-threatening emergency requiring immediate intervention.
Diego—often called “Mr. Bean” for his silly, gentle personality—is deeply intuitive and bonded to his people. He has moved across the country with me and serves as my emotional support animal. He loves creek walks, open spaces, and ocean air, and he also provides companionship and comfort to my retired dad during long stretches together.
I work in public health as a CDC contractor, a role I chose because I deeply care about population health. Despite careful planning, the sudden cost of Diego’s emergency surgery—over $12,000—is more than I can manage alone. Support will help me give him the care he needs!
