Three years ago, Dill was given a second chance at life.

He and his littermates were found abandoned in a bucket inside a dumpster in the U.S. Virgin Islands when they were only a few days old. Thanks to an incredible rescue organization and volunteers, Dill was flown to the United States, where he found his forever home with our family.

After months of occasional limping that would come and go, Dill was diagnosed with a torn cranial cruciate ligament in his knee. Our veterinarian determined that he needs TPLO surgery to regain his mobility and prevent further damage. Without surgery, he is at high risk of tearing the ligament in his other knee because he has already been overcompensating, and muscle loss has begun in his in injur

Dill has become the sweetest, most loyal member of our family. He's our gentle giant—the dog who is somehow terrified of the wind but would do anything to protect the people he loves. He loves long walks, trips to the dog park, and being the best little big brother to our Shih Tzu.

Earlier this year, I unexpectedly lost my job. We've spent countless hours researching affordable surgical options and have found an orthopedic surgeon two hours from home who can perform the surgery for $3,600—nearly $1,000 less than our local option.
