About this campaign

Dixie canine into our life almost a year ago, she had been returned to the Denver pound twice already, and had obviously been abused or abandoned because she was very timid. We were told that she might have a hard time with other animals, but we quickly learned that she had the biggest heart. She loves to play and run and has the biggest personality. Unfortunately she played a little too hard.

Yesterday, Dixie got the zombies when we got home, and as always, we went to give her a couple treats to help calm her down. She likes to jump up and grab the treats from our hand as a little game. Even though she does this all the time, yesterday she lost her balance end fell backwards, spiral fracturing her tibia. Went to ER and was determined she needs surgery. Trying to go to CSU Vet Hospital

Dixie is the most curious, playful dog I have ever had in my life. She is also the most vocal and affectionate dog I have ever had. I never thought dogs liked to cuddle and be held until her, and even though she’s very sweet and affectionate, she is still very adventurous and loves to have fun. We always play fetch and go on walks and her happy place is in the mountains where she explores.

After calling surgeons around Colorado, I have been told the average price of a fix like this is between $6,500-$7,500. This is money that we do not have, and would be a huge burden on our family to help us pay. Because of how big she is, without surgery it may not heal.
