About this campaign

A little over 6 years ago I saw this scared little skinny puppy running down the street. After figuring out who her owner she she handed her off like she was nothing. It took almost a week before she trusted me enough to touch her again. I fell in love with her the day I woke up and she was snuggled to my chest. I very carefully layed my hand over her and just lightly pet her for the first time.

About 8 months after we got Dixie, I was in the kitchen and she started running back and forth from the kitchen to the bedroom. I decided to see why this crazy puppy was freaking out and she was telling me my husband was having his second seizure ever. In trying to call 911, help my husband and let the paramedics in, I was sure to tell her how much of a good girl she was.

Currently I'm the only one working due to my husbands epilepsy so with only 1 income we do not have the money to pay for her treatment and gas to do the 2+ hour drive back and forth from CSU.

The end of last month her face swelled up to the size of a grapefruit over night. I rushed her to the emergency vet and they put her on medication for a week to get the swelling to go down. A week later I took her back so they could run some tests and 4 days after that they told us it was lymphoma. We have been to CSU and they are wanting to start chemo ASAP.

After his seizure I decided to train her for epilepsy response. Spent the next year training her to be a service dog. On black Friday 2016 my husband and I were out and he went to the bathroom, then I saw EMS running though the store. A guy stopped because a dog was barking in the bathroom. Come to find out he fell and busted his head open during a seizure, if she did not bark he could have died.
