Dixie is a 7-year-old Australian Cattle Dog in Terry, MS who needs $1,000 for heartworm treatment.

We live in an area where dogs dumped has been the norm all my life, late last year my husband noticed a dog on the side of the road, since new developments are being built, we assumed she was just wandering around, however after several days she was still in the same area, going in and out of a culvert so I went and got here, took her to neighbors to see if they had ever seen her, took her for a chip check (negative) inquired on social media if anyone was looking for her and no response. Enough time has passed that we needed to have her health checked as we do have other pets. On 2/20/20 my husband took her in and she tested positive for heart worms, I knew she was an older girl, just wasn't quite sure how old, approximately 7 to 8. Dixie has the Cattle Dog drive and grit, even at her age and heart worm congested body, she still herds all our other dogs and keeps them in line, she is my husband and I's shadow and I truly believe it's her thanks to us for taking her in. I'd like to be able to have her treated so she will know the last half of her life that she is loved and treasured.
