11 years ago I went to a shelter to get myself a little friend and walked out with this gentle giant. He was on the brink of death with Kennel Cough and was on the list to be euthanized. I was going through a very tough time at that point ,too, so he saved my life and I saved his. He is my heart and soul, and he is the kindest, most gentle, loving and smartest dog I have ever I ever met.

DJ is a vital part of our little family, it's me and my two daughters and his little pet sister, Ruby, and his pet brother Charlie (all rescues). we are lucky to live in Westchester New York where they are able to roam the pastures and woods on a regular basis. he is the heart and soul and glue of our family and I don't feel like it is his time to leave yet.

DJ is unbelievably gentle and compassionate and has always taken to animals and people who were in distress. he actually accompanied my friend's then 9-year-old daughter into the woods and stayed with her and lead her back to us when she wondered off into the woods. luckily there didn't seemed to be any squirrels or deer to distract him. it's like the dog in UP, a switch just goes off.

we just received a diagnosis of lymphoma on Friday and a slight heart murmur . he is otherwise healthy and strong and very active. Initial quote for chemo could be between $10,000 to $16,000. waiting for an appointment with the oncologist. our vet is the best and has been very compassionate and involved in helping us navigate through this
