About this campaign

This cat showed up at my doorstep one day, and we've spent every day together since. She belonged to the neighbor who neglected her because they got a new cat. I started feeding her and letting her stay overnight because I knew she wasn't going home. After a few months, I decided I was going to officially take her in as my pet. A day later, I noticed her breathing was faster than normal.

After going to the vet and then ER hospital, she was diagnosed with pyothorax, which is an infection of her chest cavity. She has fluid building up around her lungs, making it hard for her to breathe. They drained the fluid at the hospital, but told us that she would need to be hospitalized with tubes to constantly drain the fluid. The estimate they gave us was 10k for 48 hours of hospitalization.

Dolly is the sweetest cat I've ever met. She just wants to be pet and hang out next to me all day. I work from home so she keeps me company and is always close by. My boyfriend has also grown quite attached to her, and she hangs out with him in the garage or in the yard whenever he's out there. It was apparent that all she really wanted was the love and attention that she wasn't getting at home.

What breaks my heart the most is that she seems perfectly fine except for her breathing. All she needs is to be placed on those draining tubes and she will be fine. She's still eating a lot and hanging out with me, but I can tell she's in pain and her breathing is labored.
