Meet Donis — a brave soul fighting to walk again.

Donis was brought to Baw Baw Animal Welfare after his guardian noticed something heartbreaking — he was struggling to walk.

He had already received treatment from another veterinarian, but despite their efforts, there was no meaningful improvement. His mobility continued to decline, and his discomfort remained.

When Donis came into our care, our veterinary team performed a full clinical evaluation and immediately began a new, more aggressive treatment protocol. He is now receiving:

• Ceftriaxone (antibiotic therapy)
• Methylprednisolone (to reduce inflammation and spinal swelling)
• Neurobion intravenously (to support nerve function)
• IV fluids including Normal Saline and Dextrose
• Metronidazole for additional infection control

These medications are aimed at reducing inflammation, addressing possible infection, and supporting neurological recovery. But medicine alone is not enough. To give Donis the best chance at regaining strength and mobility, his veterinarian has strongly recommended physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. These specialized rehabilitation therapies are critical for rebuilding muscle tone, improving coordination, and encouraging functional recovery.

His progress will need to be carefully monitored to evaluate how he responds to treatment. Recovery will take time, patience, and consistent care.
