About this campaign
It took moments for Stephanie L. to fall in love with Dorian. She adopted him and months later he broke her heart when she learned he had a broken heart.
"Dorian was rescued from a backyard breeder," Stephanie tells Waggle. "He came to us when he was 12 weeks old. He lives with two cats that he loves, and they love him. They are always chasing each other and playing. He's just honestly been the best pup ever. He is really easy to train, listens very well, is super smart, and loves to sniff everything. This summer, we were going to start doing scent training."
But Stephanie just got shocking news: Dorian has a genetic heart defect and needs immediate surgery at OSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital to correct it.
"Dorian is not getting enough blood to lungs, has coughing fits, and tires easy. He will require a balloon valvuloplasty that will enter in his jugular, go down into his heart and have the procedure done," Stephanie says.
Stephanie is worried because she's cash strapped and struggling to pay for Dorian's life-saving surgery. "We lost our last pup to a rare form of cancer in August 2021," she says. "We spent almost all our savings on cancer meds and treatments. We are also dealing with an aging parent with cancer across the country that requires multiple trips a month."
Stephanie says she would be crushed if anything happened to Dorian. She hopes kind-hearted pet lovers will give to this campaign she launched. "He's my best friend. He talks all day long. We are hoping his super sniffer will help find missing hikers in the woods if his surgery goes well and he can participate in scent training."
Please help mend Dorian's (and Stephanie's) broken heart!
