About this campaign
Dot was orphaned as a very young kitten and landed at risk in a high kill shelter. She was bottle fed by a foster who got her through the most difficult kitten stages only to find out that she had a severe rectal deformity that would require extensive treatment and surgery. Unfortunately the shelter had scheduled her for euthanasia but we pulled her just in time.
Dot is currently living with an incredible, committed foster experienced with medical cases. She is playful, talkative and otherwise a normal, happy kitten with the exception of her incontinence issues due to her genetic deformity that require extra care and attention. She is very affectionate and will make a wonderful, fluffy companion for a lucky family once she gets her surgery.
Dot has lots of personality and love to give. She's a talker and tells us all the time how grateful she is to be getting this chance at life which is something we couldn't offer without our wonderful supporters. She loves to climb and stick her paw under the door, she's not ready to be around other pets yet, but she can't wait for the day she can have a friend!
Dot was a bottle baby at a county shelter and during a routine exam, she was unfortunately diagnosed with a rectovaginal fistula, preventing her from passing stool safely. She has had a surgical consult with Dr. Simon of Simon Veterinary Surgical who thinks she is a great candidate for the surgery and are optimistic for a positive outcome for her.
The surgery is estimated to cost $5,500. While we have raised about $1,000 from supporters, we have a long way to go to meet this dollar amount. It is a costly procedure because there are very few vets familiar with the diagnosis that are comfortable performing the surgery.
