About this campaign
Doug came into my life two years ago after his former owners felt they couldn’t handle a dog with a new baby. They had named him “Ugly Dog,” but I gently changed it to Doug so it still felt familiar. He settled into my home, loving our big backyard and his two little Chinese Crested sisters. He became family the moment he arrived.
Doug became suddenly and critically ill after a routine dental. His white blood cells and platelets dropped to life-threatening levels, causing anemia, bruising, and fever. He’s undergoing intensive treatment, including transfusions, steroids, antibiotics, and injections to try to save his life.
Doug is a funny little guy with a huge personality. He loves making eye contact, like he’s having a real conversation with you. He’s always looking for something to eat or some new adventure to get into. His joyful, curious spirit makes him truly special and unforgettable.
Doug’s medical crisis has created bills far beyond what I can manage alone, but he needs this care to have a chance. Losing him is unthinkable. Having him home again—running, eating, giving me those funny little looks—would mean getting my heart back. Our home isn’t whole wi
