About this campaign
Five years ago, an 8-week-old Douglas was given to me He became my constant shadow, protector and trained emotional support animal, always by my side through mental health struggles. His name, a joke, fits his goofy, serious nature. He's my only pet, a beloved family member (cousin/nephew/grandson), joining all holidays He loves kids and knew I was pregnant, resting his nose on my belly.
We found a lump on Douglas. Then, fungal pneumonia from a moldy apartment meant a huge vet bill.We were told the lump was fine unless it grew. Two more lumps appeared later, also okay unless they grew. Now, all have grown, requiring urgent surgery mid-July to remove one and biopsy it. This single procedure costs $1400. We don't know what's wrong, but I'll fight for my best friend to meet his human
Douglas is a unique cherished family member He's obsessed with his blue tennis ball always in the car He has his own dog pools at Great Grandmas where he stays while we're at work His auntie gives him a new duck toy every Christmas His birthday is a celebration with a new collar, toy, and Tbone steak, and we sing happy birthday Outdoors off leashhe's happiest, once he even brought back a deer leg
We're facing a tough financial stretch after moving into our new home and preparing for baby's arrival. Douglas's urgent $1400 surgery is an unexpected burden. Being able to cover this and ensure he's healthy means he can meet his new sibling and continue being my protector
