About this campaign
Duke is a rescue pup I have had since he was a year old. I found him on the side of the road in Texas in August 2010 after he was utilized for studding. It took a little bit, but he eventually started to feel safe with me, and we've been inseparable ever since! We've moved together from Texas to Washington, and finally to NYC in 2011.
Duke has 3 other siblings (other rescue dogs) in our family. Duke is the oldest of the four, thus he likes to watch them run around and play while Duke likes to try and break up playing if he thinks they're getting too rough. Duke loves to follow mom around from room to room making sure mom doesn't leave, it's pretty cute.
Covid pandemic has made mom to lose their job as an adjunct professor, which we now have to pay out of pocket for medical insurance for us. Our joint income is stretched thin, thus we need some financial help for Duke.
Duke's red blood cell count is extremely low, a sign of cancer is what our vet at Pawsitive in Brooklyn informed us. We were referred to Animal Medical Center in NYC for bone marrow aspirates for treatment, but Duke also has unknown fluid in his abdominal area. We are having to do multiple tests to see which treatment plan is the most effective.
Duke listens to mom and dad, mostly mom the most, when they ask Duke to do something. Duke has a little tail stub, so it's really cute to see it wiggle when he gets take happy, it makes us smile to see. He's been with mom over 10 years and they've been through a lot together, Duke has plenty of life experiences and street smarts.
