Duke is a 1-year-old Blue Healer/Pit Mix in Corpus Christi, TX, who needs $1,430 for a broken paw.

I had been looking for a blue healer for a long time. The oportunity came through a client's friend whose female blue had just had 8 puppies and was looking for a home to each. I had asked for a red one but when I saw Duke, he looked at me and I fell in love with him. Duke brought me back from a long depression period after my divorce and is kept me active.

Duke is a very happy and active puppy. He's learned potty, to sit and stay and he's now learning how to fetch and drop. He gives me the paw and is a great companion during my morning walks. My 82 year old father lives with me and he's also smiling and loving being around Duke. I have an 18 year old daughter who just left to college and I share custody of my 11 year old son and both love Duke!

I'm a single mother and I'm not able to cover his medical expenses. My daughter tested positive for covid and I had to pay for her treatment and testing. I'm also covering school, household, personal and my dad's expenses .

Duke ran out across the street to meet my neighbor and a car ran him over breaking his left paw and injuring his right one. The vehicle saw him and didn't stop, then it sped up and left. Duke is in need of a cast and therapy to recover from his two front legs. Duke needs antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine and follow up visits with the vet . I don't know if Duke will be able to walk again.

Duke has gotten me out of depression and I love having him with me. He sleeps in my room, he follows me everywhere and I'm finally back to my own self. Duke is an attractive puppy. He has different color eyes!! He has a blue and brown eyes. He's an amazing puppy. I also have two cats in the home , which I cat sit for my children as they don't have a place to keep them.
