About this campaign

In overcrowded and underfunded shelters, innocent lives can be put on the euthanasia list simply due to a lack of resources - like this one-year-old, energetic and friendly boy, Duke.

Duke was abandoned at a rural shelter. The staff pooled their money together to take him to a vet where he was diagnosed with heart failure based on his clinical presentation.

They paid for a month of medication, but were still faced with the pressure to euthanize for space. Everyone had fallen in love with Duke and did not want him to die. All of us at One by One Animal Advocates could feel the desperation when they asked us to take him as a hospice foster.

One glance at his adorable face, and it was clear that there was no way we could turn him away!

Our hearts won't accept a hospice-only future for this young pup. We refuse to simply settle with what's wrong and will do whatever it takes to make sure he gets the treatment needed to live life as any happy, playful dog his age should.

Fluid (more than 15 extra pounds) has accumulated in Duke's abdomen, signaling underlying inflammation, infection, heart condition, cancer or more. Further diagnostics will be performed, starting with draining some fluid and sending it off to the lab for analysis.

Can the Waggle community help us figure out Duke’s medical issues and give him the life he was meant to have, and not the one he currently has?

A donation would be an immense relief for her getting Duke on his road to recovery!
