Help Duke Fight For His Life

How can you resist those eyes!? Duke is a 10-month-old Bernedoodle who is fighting for his life. 💔 Duke was brought in by his family after more than 10 days of worsening illness at home. RBARI immediately rushed him to the hospital.

He was diagnosed with a foreign body obstruction and aspiration pneumonia, which is a critical, life-threatening combination that requires emergency surgery to save him.

His family is unable to care for him moving forward, so the amazing team at RBARI has stepped in to make sure Duke gets the care he desperately needs right now. Please help us in the fight to give this sweet boy a chance to survive and live a happy, healthy life again.

Update 10/28/25
Duke’s surgery was a success! A sock was discovered and successfully removed from his intestines. He is responding well to treatment for aspiration pneumonia, likely a result of vomiting from an obstruction for a week and a half without medical treatment.

Following successful surgery, Duke is fighting his way back to health, but he needs a place to rest, recover, and learn that the world is safe again.

🐾 Duke is looking for a foster or adopter!

Right now, he is only 28 pounds and very thin but should fill out to 40 to 50 pounds. He is gentle, sweet, and a bit shy. Because he’s still learning about the world, RBARI is seeking a home without young kids, but he would welcome a friendly doggy companion.
