About this campaign
Duke was adopted as a tripod at 5 months old in august of 2021 from FurKids. Duke came with a fully amputated front left leg due to severe abuse. I helped to rehabilitate him after his abuse gave him lots of fears. Dukes personality has been absolutely thriving due to his moms hard work, he is a friendly, fun loving, people trusting sweet baby. We want to see him continue to survive and thrive.
Duke is turkey half Labrador and half Great Dane. His time is split between napping in his favorite egg chair to trying to get all the peanut butter out of a Kong.
Though tennis balls are cool, and treats are great, Dukes absolute favorites are his stuffed animals.
Squeaker or not, Duke loves all soft stuffed animals!
Duke is a fun loving - water bottle chewing - tennis ball chasing puppy with only 3 legs!
Though he is currently not easily mobile, as a younger puppy he loved running as fast as possible after his feline sister, Squints.
Duke has gone though behavior rehab to help heal the damage done by abuse, and has come a long way.
Duke wants more than anything to play again pain free.
Duke will need an immediate FHO surgery at Northlake Veterinary Services. An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to the damaged hip.
The surgery estimate for Duke is $4,500.00. The surgery estimate includes surgery, day of surgery medications, anesthesia, overnight hospitalization and two weeks of pain medications and sedatives.
This surgery comes after a line of unexpected vet bills (related to the dog attack) that have deprecated any emergency funds I had including retirement funds, grants, and the care credit loan.
Your donation would mean the absolute world to Duke and I.
