Help Eggnog Get the Answers He Desperately Needs

Meet Eggnog, a young kitten whose rescue story began with heartbreak and uncertainty. Eggnog was originally discovered being sold on Facebook Marketplace, falsely advertised as a healthy, unfixed female kitten. Fearing he could end up neglected, abandoned, or in dangerous hands, Pumpkin’s Rescue Club stepped in immediately and paid $80 to get him to safety before it was too late. But once Eggnog was finally safe, rescuers quickly realized the truth was far more serious.

Not only was Eggnog actually a male kitten, but he was also suffering from multiple untreated medical issues, including a severe ear infection, an eye infection, worms, fleas, and significant neglect. Despite being sold as “healthy,” this fragile kitten was in urgent need of veterinary care.

As treatment began, rescuers noticed something else concerning — Eggnog was showing neurological symptoms that could not be ignored. Bloodwork thankfully ruled out several infectious diseases, but his symptoms continued. Veterinarians initially suspected cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a non-progressive neurological condition kittens can live happily with. But now, Eggnog’s symptoms appear to be getting worse.

Because CH typically does not progress over time, veterinarians are increasingly concerned that Eggnog may instead be suffering from a progressive neurological disease or possible brain damage from a prior medical event. To finally get answers, Eggnog now urgently needs an advanced CT scan and continued neurological evaluation to determine what is happening inside his tiny body, what his prognosis may be, and what kind of long-term care he will need.

Pumpkin’s Rescue Club remains fully committed to Eggnog no matter what the results may show. But advanced diagnostics and specialty neurological care are extremely expensive, and the rescue cannot continue this journey alone.

Despite everything he has endured, Eggnog remains a sweet and deserving kitten who finally knows what safety, care, and love feel like. He deserves the chance to be comfortable, understood, and given every possible opportunity for a good quality of life.

It is with profound sadness that we share that sweet Eggnog has passed away.

From the moment he was rescued from being sold online under false pretenses, we knew this little kitten faced an uphill battle. What was supposed to be a healthy kitten turned out to be a baby suffering from multiple infections, parasites, neglect, and devastating neurological issues. Despite every effort to find answers and provide him with the best possible care, Eggnog's condition continued to worsen.

While his time with us was far too short, it was filled with something he had likely never known before—love, comfort, and the security of being truly cared for. He never again had to wonder where his next meal would come from or whether anyone would fight for him. Pumpkin's Rescue Club made sure that every decision was made with his comfort and wellbeing at the heart of it.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared his story, and cheered him on throughout his journey. Your generosity helped provide veterinary care, diagnostics, medications, and compassionate support, ensuring Eggnog received every opportunity to be helped and every ounce of love we could give.
