About this campaign
Elinor was dropped off at a rescue facility limping on her front right leg. I fostered to adopt Elinor soon after meeting her mid September. When she got spayed they also got an X-ray that showed a distal humerus fracture which the vet recommended an amputation. Unfortunately this was not disclosed to me before adoption but i knew she needed a loving home.
Elinor received her amputation from the rescue facility on 10/23. She has suffered complications such as bleeding from incision site and now a MRSA infection. The MRSA infection has required daily wound clean outs at the vet office that now require deeper sedation and anesthesia due to the pain and discomfort. We are hoping we can close the wound in a week if the infection can clear.
Elinor is very smart and sweet. It’s obvious she has just wanted a safe and loving home. Prior to the amputation, the leg had caused her pain but definitely didn’t slow her down. She loves toys and tug of war and of course all of the treats. She was already learning to sit, lay down, and heel. I feel this amputation will continue to not slow her down once we can get through this hard time.
Unfortunately I was not prepared to pay the expansive expenses that Elinor is requiring and the adoption center is not able to compensate. I had just recently spent most of my savings on my house due to roof leak and I am a single income household.
