About this campaign
I rescued Elio back in 2024 from Shady Paws Animal Rescue during a time of struggle for me in college. He had a broken leg in 5 places and we were to to amputate. Winchester SPCA sponsored his surgery and he was able to get the care he required. He now lives in Maryland with my mom while I finish school but is funded by me while I finish my baccalaureate degree in psychology.
Elio was diagnosed with an extreme urinary blockage and had crystals in his bladder. He is currently being treated at Banfield Hospital in Urbana, MD, and has been on a catheter and IV's for four days. He is at risk for PU surgery currently.
Elio was rehabilitated for a year after his adoption. The incident with his leg caused him to have an extreme distrust of people, and he was very withdrawn. Over the last two years, he has formed a close bond with my other cat as well as my dogs, and they are all a large family. He is extremely affectionate now and plays like a kitten.
There were no signs of this before having to seek emergency treatment. I am a college student who is already in debt with student loans, and I am also currently seeking my master's. I work two jobs while also being a full-time student and cannot bear to euthanize my baby.
